Our History

Hudson Grove African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church was established on November 17, 1888, when J. M. & Margaret Price, Amy Price, and R. A. Hudson donated land to the church trustees for $20. The original Trustees included Saufrow Houston, Winfield Buchanan, and Wilson May.

The original church was located by Twelve Mile Creek, where services took place until the early 1920s, when Rev. R. B. Bennett built a new church in 1921.

In 1970, 2.10 acres were purchased for a new church location, with groundbreaking taking place in 1979.

The structure was reconstructed in 1984 with the involvement of Trustees W. Kennedy and Robert Henighan, Pastor Rev. Jason M. Crowell, Presiding Elder W. J. W. Turner, and Presiding Bishop Author Marshall.

Renovations, which included new carpeting, an altar with a kneeling rail, border finishing, new pews, and pulpit furnishings, were completed between 2002 and 2003.
